Oilers Find Their Stroke in Win Over Tiffin

The University of Findlay women's basketball team found their stroke against Tiffin University on Saturday, Feb. 8 as they defeated the Dragons by a score of 81-59 in Croy Gymnasium.

The Oilers, who improved to 10-11 on the year with the win, shot 51.6 percent (32-of-62) from the floor and dished out 23 assists.  It was the first time the Oilers have shot over 50 percent from the field in a game since they connected on 51.9 percent of their shots at Northwood on Dec. 7.

Sophomore forward Kelsey Lewis led the charge and tied a school record by going 8-of-8 from the field in the win.  Her perfect outing led to a career-high 20 points and engraves her name in the Oilers record book alongside Brittay Wells, who finished 8-of-8 from the field in a 76-55 win against Siena Heights on Nov. 29, 2005.

Junior guard Ciara Geiger also had a standout game for the Oilers as she recorded 16 points, nine rebounds and four steals.

Senior guard Karli Beasley also reached double figures in the win with 12 points.  She also added four rebounds, three assists and a steal.

Freshman guard Karli Bonar recorded eight points, six rebounds and three assists while sophomore forward Margaret Wuebker had eight points, four rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block in the win.

The Dragons shot 38.3 percent (18-of-47) from the floor and were forced into 25 turnovers by the Oilers during the game.

Jillian Adams led Tiffin with 11 points.

The Oilers will return to the court on Feb. 13 when they travel to Ashland, Ohio to take on Ashland University at 5:30 p.m. in Kates Gymnasium.
