The University of Findlay women's basketball team suffered a tough defeat at the hands of Walsh University on Thursday in Canton, Ohio as they fell 86-83 to the Cavaliers.  The loss gives the Oilers an 11-13 record on the season with an 8-12 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers fell behind by a score of 46-44 at the break and led for the majority of the second half until Walsh went on a 7-0 run to take an 80-76 lead with only 1:43 to play.  The Oilers then cut the deficit to one at 82-81 with only 11 ticks remaining on a three-point play by junior guard Ciara Geiger, but the Cavaliers took care of business down the stretch to pull out the victory.

Junior guard Nikki Gunning led Findlay with 17 points while sophomore forward Margaret Wuebker had 15 points and nine rebounds.

Geiger added 13 points and eight boards while freshman guard Karli Bonar contributed 11 points, hitting three triples along the way.

The Oilers shot 42.4 percent (28-of-66) from the floor and canned ten three pointers.  They also forced 18 turnovers, but were out-rebounded by a 56-31 margin.

Kelsey Funderburgh led the Cavaliers with 21 points and nine rebounds while Maggie Berry and Tara Gallupe added 17 and 16 points, respectively.

The Oilers will return home to host Malone University on Saturday in a "Black Out" game at Croy Gymnasium.  Come to the game, which starts at 1 p.m., dressed in black.
