Oilers to Host Indiana Wesleyan

The Oilers women's basketball team host Indiana Wesleyan in an exhibition game on Nov. 20. The contest is scheduled to tip at 6 p.m. in Croy Gymnasium.

Series Information

The Oilers have a 3-1 record in the all-time series against Indiana Wesleyan during regular season games dating back to the 1995-96 season when the Wildcats came out on top by a score of 85-69.

The two programs last met during the 2000-01 campaign. In that game, the Oilers were victorious by a score of 84-63.

Findlay

The Oilers were picked to finish fourth in the South Division of the GLIAC this season as the league office released their preseason poll on Oct. 29.

Junior forward Margaret Wuebker was named a preseason first team all-conference pick while senior guard Ciara Geiger earned preseason second team honors.

Wuebker was a second team all-league pick last year for the Oilers, who finished the 2013-14 campaign with a 12-14 record. During her sophomore season, Wuebker posted a team-high 12.7 points and 5.6 rebounds per contest.

Geiger meanwhile averaged 10.2 points and 3.8 rebounds per game for Findlay last season.

Findlay is coming off of an 84-25 loss at Purdue during an exhibition game on Nov. 9.

The Oilers missed all 29 of their three point attempts in the game and shot only 18.2 percent (10-of-55) from the floor. Purdue meanwhile connected on 53.2 percent (33-of-62) of their shot attempts and held a 54-20 advantage on the boards.

Ciara Geiger led the Oilers with eight points while Margaret Wuebker, Nikki Gunning, Lacey Kessler and Haley Horstman scored four points apiece.

Indiana Wesleyan

The Wildcats have a 5-1 record on the year and are coached by Steve Brooks, the brother of UF assistant women's basketball coach, Ken Brooks.

Under the guidance of Brooks, the Wildcats have won two NAIA national championships. They won national titles in 2007 and 2013.

This season the Wildcats have been stout on the defensive end, only allowing their opponents to score 50.2 points per game.

Katrina Blackmon leads a balanced offensive attack with 9.0 points per game while Erika Isham is averaging 8.0 points per contest.

Preseason All-GLIAC

Scoring in Bunches

Senior guard Ciara Geiger has had a knack for putting the ball in the hole during her collegiate career as she has racked up 1,259 points. Geiger scored 995 points for Urbana University during her first two collegiate seasons before transferring to Findlay last season. In her first season with the Oilers, Geiger scored 264 points.

Balanced Attack

The Oilers return their top five scorers from last season. Junior forward Margaret Wuebker led the team in scoring at 12.7 points per game while senior guard Ciara Geiger posted 10.2 points per contest.

The Oilers will also welcome back sophomore guard Karli Bonar, who averaged 8.4 points per game last year. Senior forward Lacey Kessler returns after averaging 8.0 points per game while senior guard Nikki Gunning also averaged 8.0 points per contest last year for Findlay.
