Oilers Clobber Mercyhurst 91-60

The University of Findlay women's basketball team earned a 91-60 win over Mercyhurst University in their home opener, which took place on Nov. 29 in Croy Gymnasium.

The Oilers once again had a hot shooting hand, hitting 54.2 percent (32-of-59) of their shot attempts in the win. They also held a 45-34 advantage on the boards and came away with 14 steals in the game.

Junior forward Margaret Wuebker led the way with 16 points and eight rebounds in only 17 minutes of action while senior guard Nikki Gunning came off the bench to score 13 points on 4-of-8 shooting.

Sophomore guard Karli Bonar and senior forward Lacey Kessler each scored ten points apiece while junior forward Kelsey Lewis recorded a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds.

Senior guard Ciara Geiger had nine points, freshman guard Haley Horstman recorded seven points and four steals and freshman guards Lynsey Englebrecht and Shannon Zajec posted six points each in the victory.

The Lakers, who were held to a 32.4 percent (22-of-68) shooting clip, received a game-high 19 points from Adrienne Kloecker.

The Oilers will be back on Monday to host Michigan-Dearborn at 6:30 p.m. in Croy Gymnasium.
