Oilers to Host Mo.-St. Louis on Saturday

The University of Findlay women's basketball team will host the University of Missouri-St. Louis on Dec. 20. The non-conference contest is scheduled to tip at 1 p.m. in Croy Gymnasium.

The Oilers have never played Missouri-St. Louis before.

Findlay

The Oilers are 4-3 on the season and are coming off of a 65-59 loss at Northern Michigan last Saturday.

The Oilers, who held a 10-point lead in the second half, shot 40.7 percent (22-of-54) from the floor while the Wildcats converted 54.8 percent (23-of-42) of their shot attempts in the game. Findlay forced 21 turnovers and held a 14-2 advantage in points off the bench as well.

Margaret Wuebker led the Oilers with 14 points and four rebounds while Kristin Klausing tied her career-high with 12 points. She also added five rebounds and a pair of assists too.

Ciara Geiger also reached double figures with ten points on 5-of-13 shooting while Nikki Gunning and Karli Bonar had eight and five points, respectively, in the loss.

Missouri-St. Louis

The Tritons are 4-2 on the year and have been led by Alexis Lawrence, who is averaging 17.7 points per game.  Lawrence has shot 48.6 percent from the field and has drilled 21 three pointers.

Tierra Snow is giving the Tritons 10.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per contest while Kelly Kunkel and Amber Daly are scoring 8.7 and 8.0 points per game, respectively.

Missouri-St. Louis is scoring 71.7 points per contest and averaging 44.3 rebounds per game. They have a +12.3 advantage on the boards this year.

Putting Points on the Board

The Oilers are averaging 74.0 points per game this season, the fourth best mark in the GLIAC. They have done so with a balanced offensive attack that includes eight players averaging more than 6.0 points per game.

Junior forward Margaret Wuebker leads the team with an average of 12.6 points per game while senior guard Nikki Gunning is also scoring in double figures on a nightly basis with 10.0 points per outing.

The Oilers have nine different players reach double figures in a game this season.

Hot Shooting

The Oilers have come out on fire in the early season and are shooting 47.2 percent from the floor as a team, which is the best mark in the GLIAC.  Junior forward Kelsey Lewis leads the team and is ranked second in the conference with a 62.5 percent shooting clip.

Senior guard Nikki Gunning is also shooting the ball well and is making 50.0 percent of her attempts.  Her percentage is the 11th best mark in the GLIAC.

Grand Theft

The Oilers are averaging 9.7 steals per game, which is the fifth best total in the GLIAC.  Senior forward Lacey Kessler leads the team with an average of 1.6 steals per contest.

Cleaning the Glass

The Oilers have a 3-0 record this season when they out-rebound their opponents.  They are averaging 32.9 rebounds per game this year and have been led by junior forward Margaret Wuebker, who is grabbing 4.1 rebounds per game.
