Oilers Slay Dragons, Win 99-80

The University of Findlay women's basketball team put a season-high point total in their 99-80 win over Tiffin University on Jan. 17 in Croy Gymnasium. The victory gives the Oilers a 9-5 record on the year with a 5-5 record in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play.

The Oilers shot 61.7 percent (37-of-60) from the floor in the win, which included a 52.4 percent (11-of-21) showing from three point range. The Oilers also forced 22 turnovers and held a 40-19 advantage in points off the bench.

Sophomore guard Karli Bonar continued her hot play with 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting. She canned five three pointers and also recorded four rebounds and three assists.

Senior guard Nikki Gunning came off the bench to provide 17 points on 5-of-9 shooting while senior guard Kristin Klausing stuffed the stat sheet with 12 points, five assists, four steals and three rebounds.

Senior guard Ciara Geiger contributed 12 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals while junior forwards Margaret Wuebker and Kelsey Lewis had ten points apiece.

Freshman guard Haley Horstman just missed out on being the Oilers seventh player in double figures as she finished with eight points and four assists.

The Dragons were led by Kaylee Patton's 22 points.

Findlay will return to action again on Jan. 22 when they travel to Ashland, Ohio to take on Ashland University at 5:30 p.m.
