The University of Findlay women's basketball team cruised to an 81-54 win over Malone University on Jan. 31 in Croy Gymnasium. The win gives the Oilers an 11-7 record on the season with a 7-7 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers jumped out to a 42-20 lead at the half behind an incredible performance from senior guard Nikki Gunning, who poured in 18 points in only 12 minutes off the bench. Gunning ended the game with a career-high 20 points on 6-of-9 shooting. She drained four three pointers and also added four rebounds and two assists.

Senior guard Ciara Geiger and junior forward Margaret Wuebker also reached double figures in the win, scoring 11 and ten points, respectively. Geiger had three rebounds and two assists while Wuebker snatched eight boards in the win.

Sophomore guard Karli Bonar had nine points on three triples while freshman guard Lynsey Englebrecht produced a career-high nine points and five rebounds.

The Oilers, who shot 51.9 percent (28-of-54) from the floor and 52 percent (13-of-25) from behind the three point line, also received eight points from freshman guard Shannon Zacjec in the victory.

The Pioneers, who only shot 29.7 percent (19-of-64) from the floor, were led by Kristen Massey's 16 points and six rebounds.

The Oilers will now have a day off before traveling to Detroit, Mich. to take on 10th-ranked Wayne State University on Monday. The game is scheduled to tip at 5:30 p.m.
