Bonar's 19 Points Lead Findlay

Box Score

The University of Findlay women's basketball team used a 32-point third quarter to pull away from the competition in day two of the Pops Duncan Classic in Nashville, Tennessee. Findlay never looked back en route to an 80-56 victory over Kentucky Wesleyan. The Saturday, Nov. 14 win gives the Oilers a 2-0 record to start the 2015-16 campaign.

The Orange and Black outplayed the Panthers in every way as they outrebounded KWC 52 to 35, had more assists (16 to 7), received a better scoring effort from their bench (36 to 20), and tallied a higher shooting percentage.

Findlay was hot from the floor as they were able to knock in 50.8% (30-59) of their shots from the field, including a torrid 56.3% from behind the arc (9-16).

Leading the three-point barrage was junior Karli Bonar who drained 4-7 from deep while scoring 19 points, which matches her high from a season ago.

For the second night in a row, sophomore Lynsey Englebrecht dropped in a career high in points as tonight's 17 point effort trumps her 16 point outing of just 24 hours ago. Her 12-point third quarter was essential in helping the Oilers pull away from a team that had managed to tie the score at halftime. She also led the defense with three steals.

Sophomore Haley Horstman, who played a team-high 28 minutes, was able to score 12 points, grab seven rebounds, and get two assists in the win. Her points came on the strength of a 4-6 day from the field.

Freshman Anna Hintz showed her talent as she was able to collect the first double-double of her career and of the Oilers' season. Hintz scored 10 points and collected 10 rebounds in the win. She also led the team in blocks with two.

Senior Margaret Wuebker nearly had a double-double as well as she scored eight points and grabbed nine rebounds. She was second on the team with three assists. Leading the team in that category was freshman Allie Thobe, who had four assists.

The Oilers will be back in action next Saturday, November 21 as they host Salem International in their home-opener. That game will begin at 1:00pm.
