Oilers Head to Missouri-St. Louis

The Oilers will head to St. Louis, Mo. on Nov. 28 for a non-conference game against Missouri-St. Louis. The game is scheduled to tip at 2 p.m.

Series Information

The Oilers hold a 1-0 advantage in the all-time series against Missouri-St. Louis. Findlay won the lone matchup between the two programs last year by a score of 72-66 in Croy Gymnasium.

The Oilers shot 38.9 percent (14-of-36) from the floor in the win and canned a season-high 39-of-47 (83%) shot attempts from the charity stripe. They also forced 21 turnovers and came away with ten steals in the game.

Nikki Gunning led the team with 19 points on 4-of-9 shooting. She also made all ten of her attempts from the free throw line to go along with one rebounds and one block in 18 minutes of action off the bench.

Lacey Kessler also provided a spark off the pine with 13 points and five rebounds while Ciara Geiger produced 13 points, four rebounds and two steals.

Margaret Wuebker and Karli Bonar also reached double figures in the victory with 11 and ten points, respectively.

The Tritons were led by Alexis Lawrence's game-high 20 points. Kelly McGovern also had a good day with ten points and a game-high 12 rebounds.

Findlay

The Oilers won 85-48 against Salem International on Nov. 21 in Croy Gymnasium to improve to 3-0 on the year.

The Oilers jumped out to a 56-29 lead at the break and never looked back as they shot 52.4 percent (33-of-63) from the field. Findlay also held a 44-23 advantage on the boards and forced 25 turnovers in the win.

Senior forward Kelsey Lewis paced the squad with a season-high 16 points on 5-of-6 shooting. Senior forward Margaret Wuebker continued her great all-around play with 11 points, eight rebounds and three assists.

Freshman forward Anna Hintz recorded her second straight double-double with ten points and ten rebounds. She also added three steals and a pair of assists.

Sophomore guard Lynsey Englebrecht had nine points off the bench while freshman guard Allie Thobe contributed seven points and five rebounds. Fellow freshman guard Jenna Stegmaier recorded seven points and two steals in the win too.

Missouri-St. Louis

The Tritons are 2-3 on the season and are coming off of a 74-68 loss at Kentucky Wesleyan on Nov. 25.

The team is only shooting 31.2 percent from the field this season, but they are averaging 11.6 steals per contest. They have been led by Kelly Kunkel, who is averaging 14.2 points per game.

Robneisha Lee and Sydney Bloch are also averaging in double figures on a nightly basis as they check in at 11.8 and 10.0 points per game, respectively.

Bombs Away

Junior guard Karli Bonar has made 140 career three pointers at Findlay, the fifth best mark in school history. She is chasing former UF star Tiffany Stewart for fourth place on the all-time list. Stewart canned 142 three pointers for the Oilers from 2000-03.

Bonar broke the school record for most made three pointers in a season last year with 71. She bettered the mark of 68, which was set by Maggie Gompers during the 2008-09 campaign.

In high school at Shadyside, Bonar set Ohio state records for most three pointers made in a season (110) and most made triples in a career (350).

Chasing 1,000 Career Points

Senior forward Margaret Wuebker is looking to become the Oilers 20th member of the 1,000-point club this season. Wuebker has scored 792 career points during her tenure with the program, leaving her 208 points shy of the 1,000-point plateau.

Hot Hand

Sophomore guard Lynsey Englebrecht has had a hot hand from three point range in the Oilers first three games, hitting 11-of-15 (73.3%) attempts from long range. She currently leads the team in scoring with 14.0 points per contest.

Double-Doubles

Freshman forward Anna Hintz has recorded back-to-back double-doubles for the Oilers off the bench. Hintz had 10 points and 10 rebounds in the Oilers 80-54 win against Kentucky Wesleyan on Nov. 14 in Nashville, Tenn. and then followed with the same statline in Findlay's 85-48 home win over Salem International on Nov. 21.
