Oilers Fall in Columbus

Box Score

Columbus, OH – The University of Findlay women's basketball team traveled south to take on Ohio Dominican on Thursday, Feb. 4 and fell by a 75-61 final. The Oilers are now 13-9 overall and 8-8 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play.

Down by 15 points midway through the second quarter, Findlay battled back as they went on an 11-0 run over a four minute stretch. They cut the Panthers lead to 30-26 with 1:32 to play in the half and only trailed 35-28 heading to the locker room despite a shaky start and a 27.3 shooting percentage.

From that point on, the Black and Gold would shoot extremely well, eliminating the chance of a comeback. ODU shot 50% from the floor after halftime and outrebounded the Orange and Black 52-36 in the game.

Leading the scoring for Findlay was junior Karli Bonar who was able to connect on five threes to finish with 15 points. She shot 5-of-8 from deep.

Sophomore Haley Horstman also reached double figures as she was able to score 14 points.

The leading rebounder was freshman Anna Hintz who collected seven boards. She also scored eight points in the contest.

As a team, Findlay shot just 21-of-57 from the floor and had trouble in the paint as they were outscored 40-26 from in close.

Findlay will be back on the court this Saturday, Feb. 6 when they will take on Tiffin in Croy Gymnasium. That game will begin at 1:00 p.m.
