Series Information

The Oilers and Caveliers will meet for the 19th time on Thursday. The first time these teams met was in the 1983-84 season where they faced off in the second round of the NAIA Playoffs. The Oilers won that game 69-66. Findlay holds a 13-5 record against the Caveliers.

Despite a historical advantage, the Oilers dropped the most recent contest between the schools as they lost to Walsh on Jan. 28 of this year with a double overtime score of 76-75.

The Oilers kept themselves in the game with a record-setting effort at the free-throw line. As a team, the Orange and Black hit 18-of-18, tying the old UF record which was set in a game vs. West Liberty State on Nov. 28, 2004.

Senior Margaret Wuebker led the charge at the line as she hit a career-high 10-of-10 and finished with a team-high 18 points. She also grabbed a team-high nine rebounds and had two blocks.

Also playing well was sophomore Haley Horstman who grabbed a career-high eight rebounds and scored 15 points. Freshman Anna Hintz nearly had a double-double as well as she dropped 11 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and blocked a pair of shots. She hit a career-high from the free throw line as well as she nailed 5-of-5 from the stripe.

When Findlay takes on Malone, it will be the 25th meeting of the Pioneers and Oilers. The first contest between the schools was played in the 1991-92 season with the Orange and Black winning that game 74-54. Since the first game, Findlay holds a 22-1 advantage in the series including a pair of wins last season.

The Oilers won the game in Canton earlier this season in blow-out fashion. The final was 78-53 and it was arguably the best Findlay had played all season.

Domination was the name of the game as Findlay posted their second-highest field goal percentage of the year, making 32-of-61 from the floor for 52.5%. They also hit 7-of-15 from deep. Along with that high shooting percentage, the Orange and Black held Malone to just 14-of-54 (25.9%) from the floor.

All those missed shots mean nothing if the rebound cannot be secured and the Oilers did just that as they out-rebounded Malone 48-23.

Leading the way was senior Margaret Wuebker who shot 7-of-13 from the floor to score a season-high 19 points. She also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. Wuebker now has 991 points in her career and looks to become the 20th player in program history to reach 1,000 career points in the Oilers game on Monday.

Freshman Anna Hintz, who has played her way into a starting role in her first year, played yet another big game by setting a career-high with 17 points. She shot 80% (8-of-10) from the floor and grabbed seven rebounds. Hintz also led the team with three assists.

Findlay

The Oilers enter the game with a 15-10 mark overall and a 10-9 record in GLIAC play. Despite a mid-season five game skid, Findlay has won four of their last six games.

Sophomore Haley Horstman is doing the bulk of the scoring for Findlay as she is scoring 12.5 points per contest while shooting 50.8% from the floor.

Senior Margaret Wuebker has improved her scoring over the course of the season and has her average up to 12 points per game. She is averaging 15 points per game over the last seven games.

Junior Karli Bonar is also in double figures as she scoring 10.3 points per game. She is making 2.8 three pointers per game.

Sophomore Lynsey Englebrecht is shooting the lights out as she is knocking in 55.6% of her tries from behind the arc. She is scoring 6.5 points per contest.

Statistics

Walsh

The Cavaliers are currently 17-7 overall and 14-5 in the conference. They sit in third place in the GLIAC South and have clinched a GLIAC Tournament berth. They have won five games in a row, the longest current winning streak in the GLIAC, and are 9-2 at home this season.

Walsh is coming off of a 10-point win over Tiffin University, a game the Cavs won by a score of 67-57. Walsh held a major rebound advantage in that game as they grabbed 40 boards compared to Tiffin's 28. The Caveliers drained 16-of-18 from the charity stripe in the win.

Senior Kesley Funderburgh is the leading scorer for Walsh and enters the game scoring 14.4 points per contest while Hochstedler is second with 10.5 ppg. Sophomore Brittini Clopton is near double-figures with her 9.6 ppg. Cloptons 8.3 rebounds per game are seventh in the GLIAC.

The Caveliers are second in the conference in steals per game at 10.7 and are third in the conference with 62.5 field goal attempts per game. They also protect the ball well as they only commit 13.8 turnovers per game, the third lowest total in the GLIAC.

Malone

The Pioneers enter the week with a 7-17 record overall and a 4-15 mark in GLIAC play. They are currently in seventh place in the GLIAC South.

In their last game, Malone was on the short end of an 75-42 final vs. Ohio Dominican. Junior Rachel Goddard led the Pioneers with 13 points. She also had four rebounds.

Goddard is the team's leading scorer with 13.3 points per game while senior Tara Schaffter is second on the team with 11.4 per game. Freshman Chrissie Vaughan is scoring 10.7 and sophomore Alahna Singleton is scoring 8.5. Schaffer is also grabbing 4.6 rebounds per game.

Senior Bri Libertore is the team's leading rebounder. She is collecting 6.5 per game.

Good news for the Oilers, Malone is ranked last in the GLIAC in opponents three point percentage, the very strength that the Orange and Black rely on to win games. However, the Pioneers can shoot the three as well and are second in the conference in three pointers made per game.

Bombs Away

Junior guard Karli Bonar has made 201 career three pointers at Findlay, the third best mark in school history. She is chasing former UF star Maggie Gompers for second place on the all-time list. Gompers canned 206 three pointers for the Oilers from 2007-10.

Bonar has made four or more threes in eight of the Oilers games this season. Her season high was Jan. 21 vs. Ashland when she nailed six from deep. This season, Bonar has connected on 70 shots from deep, just five shy of the UF record of 71 that she set last season.

Moving On Up: Senior forward Margaret Wuebker became the Oilers 20th member of the 1,000-point club on Feb. 1 when she poured in 25 points in Findlay's 87-80 win against Wayne State. Wuebker ranks 17th all-time at UF with 1,059 career points. She is chasing Rebecca Whitt who scored 1,067 points from 1992-95.

Stroking 3's

The Oilers are hitting 39.6 percent of their three point tries this season, the best percentage in the GLIAC and the eighth best percentage in the nation.

They have been led by sophomore guard Lynsey Englebrecht, who is hitting 55.6 percent of her long range attempts. The percentage is the best mark in the GLIAC and would be the best in the nation, however her 1.6 made threes per game are not enough to qualify her for the statistic (must have 2.0 made threes per game). The UF record is 51.0% set in 1995-96 by Jill Muhlenkamp. The GLIAC record for three point percentage in a season is 56.9% set in 2010-11 by Michigan Tech's Angela Guisfredi.

Karli Bonar is fifth in the league as she is hitting on 42.0 percent of her tries from deep. That is 37th in the country.

Charity Stripe

Sophomore Haley Horstman has nailed 55-of-64 from the line for 85.9%, good for third in the GLIAC.
