Findlay, OH - The University of Findlay women's basketball team took down the Wayne State Warriors on Saturday, Jan. 7. The game ended with a 76-67 final and gets the Oilers back to the .500 mark at 8-8 on the year with a 2-6 record in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play.

The Oilers shot the ball well from the floor as they hit 29-of-57 for 50.9%. An 11-for-15 shooting effort in the second quarter helped Findlay to a 43-34 lead at the break. That lead was extended to 19 points after three quarters. The Warriors outscored Findlay 21-11 in the final frame, but it was not enough to prevent the home team from earning the win.

The Oilers dominated on the boards as they outrebounded Wayne St. 37-23. Of the 37 rebounds for Findlay, 14 were on the offensive end. Findlay also made their second-highest percentage of free-throws, connecting on 14-of-16 from the line for 87.5%.

Sophomore Anna Hintz had a game to remember as she set a new career-high with 23 points on 9-of-11 from the floor. That included a pair of threes on two attempts. She also led the team with 11 rebounds, giving her a double-double for the second time this season. Three assists, two steals, and one block rounded out Hintz' stellar performance.

Fellow sophomore Christa Puthoff also reached the 20-point mark with 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting. She was a perfect 4-of-4 from the charity stripe, and grabbed six rebounds, four of which were offensive boards.

Junior Haley Horstman was the final player in double-figures with 14 points on 7-of-14 shooting. She also grabbed seven rebounds, one shy of a season-high.

Sophomore Allie Thobe had nine points and two rebounds while junior Lynsey Englebrecht chipped in six points on a pair of triples.

Findlay hits the road for their next game, a contest at Hillsdale on Jan. 12 set to begin at 6:00 pm.
