Ashland, OH – The University of Findlay women's basketball team ran into the buzz saw that is the #1 Ashland Eagles on Saturday, Jan. 28. The Eagles reached the 100-point mark for the sixth time this season and defeated Findlay 110-65. With the loss, the Oilers fall to 9-12 overall and 3-10 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play while Ashland improves to 21-0 overall and 13-0 in GLIAC action. It is the first time since giving up 102 points to Ashland on Feb. 22, 2007 that the Oilers have allowed more than 100 points in a game. The 110 points allowed are tied for the most points allowed in a game in school history.
Ashland shot a blistering 64.3% (45-of-70) from the floor including 15-of-24 from deep compared to 35.6% (21-of-59) for the Oilers.
Junior Lynsey Englebrecht led the Oilers with 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting including 4-of-7 from deep. She had a pair of rebounds and one assist.
Tying a career-high was junior Elissa Ellerbrock with 12 points on 4-of-9 shooting.
Sophomore Christa Puthoff scored nine points and led the team with seven boards while fellow sophomore Anna Hintz scored eight and had six rebounds.
The Oilers will have a quick turnaround as they take on Walsh University on Monday, Jan. 30 in Croy Gymnasium. That game will begin at 5:30 pm.
