Findlay Hosts Walsh and Hillsdale on Short Rest
Findlay returns home for a pair of games this week, hosting Walsh University on Monday, Jan. 30 and hosting Hillsdale College on Thursday, Feb. 2. Both games will be played at 5:30 pm in Croy Gymnasium.

Series Information
Walsh: The Oilers and Caveliers have faced off 19 times with Findlay holding a 13-6 advantage in those games. Their first meeting came in the 1983-84 season in the second round of the NAIA District 22 Playoffs. The Oilers won that game 69-66, eventually reaching the second round of the NAIA Tri-District Playoffs before losing to Saginaw Valley State.
Last season the Oilers lost both contests to the Maroon and Gold. Findlay hosted Walsh on January 28, a game that ended in a 76-75 double-overtime loss for the Oilers despite making a perfect 18-of-18 from the charity stripe, a school record. Margaret Wuebker hit 10-of-10 FTs and finished with 18 pts.
When Findlay invaded North Canton, the game was more lopsided with the Caveliers winning 78-53. Anna Hintz stuffed the stat sheet, scoring eight points, grabbing five rebounds, picking up three blocks, and collecting four steals. She also had two assists.
Hillsdale: Findlay and Hillsdale have faced off 40 times with each team winning 20 of those meetings dating back to their first meeting in 1985-86, a 74-47 win. The Oilers had won three straight against the Chargers with an average margin of victory of 14 points until Hillsdale won the first matchup this season by a score of 73-56.
In that game, the Oilers shot 37.5 percent (21-of-56) from the floor while the Chargers connected on 44.8 percent (30-of-67) from the field in the game. The Chargers also held a 43-34 advantage on the boards and grabbed 16 offensive rebounds in the contest.
Junior guard Haley Horstman led Findlay with 13 points and four rebounds while sophomore forward Anna Hintz nearly recorded a double-double with 12 points and nine boards.
Sophomore guard Allie Thobe kicked in eight points while junior guard Lynsey Englebrecht and sophomore forward Elissa Ellerbrock each had seven points apiece in the loss.
Findlay
The Oilers have dropped four of their previous five games with their last win coming on Jan. 21 at home with Lake Erie. Since then, Findlay has been on the road twice and dropped both games, one of which was against the number one team in the country, the Ashland Eagles. Findlay is 9-12 overall and 3-10 in GLIAC play.
The Oilers are led offensively by sophomore Christa Puthoff who is scoring 9.2 points per game while junior sharpshooter Lynsey Englebrecht is scoring 9.1 ppg. Puthoff is the second leading rebounder at 5.0 rebounds per game.
Sophomore Anna Hintz is scoring 8.9 points per contest and is the leader on the boards at 6.8 per game. She has turned in a pair of double-doubles this season, the last of which was a 10 point-13 rebound performance at Tiffin.
Walsh
The Cavaliers are in third place in the GLIAC South Division despite losing four of their previous six games. In their most recent game, Walsh hosted the Tiffin University Dragons and won by an 82-79 final. In that game, Brittani Clopton (14 pts), Alex Hochstedler (11 pts), Jalynn Graham (11 pts), Brooklyn Wooten (17 pts), and Allison Butler (11 pts) all scored in double figures.
Wooten, a second team all-GLIAC performer a year ago and preseason all-GLIAC player this year, is the leading scorer at 12.9 points per contest. She is also third on the team with 4.7 rebounds per game, first on the team with 3.5 assists per game, and second with 1.9 steals per game.
Hochstedler and Clopton are also averaging double-figures at 12.1 and 11.7 points per game. Clopton leads the squad at 6.2 boards per game.
Hillsdale
The Chargers are 12-9 overall and 6-8 in GLIAC play and are in fifth place in the South Division, two and a half games ahead of the Oilers.
Since playing Findlay on Jan. 12, Hillsdale has gone 2-3 with wins against Tiffin and Lake Erie and losses to Ashland, Walsh, and Ohio Dominican.
Sophomore Allie Dewire is the leading scorer at 13.5 ppg, 11th in the GLIAC. She is joined by junior Allie Dittmer (11.6 ppg) and sophomore Makenna Ott (10.8 ppg) as the team's double-digit scorers. Dewire shares the ball well, too, as she leads the squad with 3.3 assists per game.
Dittmer is nearing a double-double average as she is rebounding at a clip of 8.6 per game while junior Maddy Reed is second with 6.1 rebounds per game.
Bombs Away
Senior guard Karli Bonar has made 246 career three pointers at Findlay, the most in school history.
In high school, Bonar set Ohio state records for most three pointers made in a season (110) and most made triples in a career (350).
Junior Lynsey Englebrecht is also a major factor from behind the arc. Last season, she led the GLIAC with a three-point percentage of .524, making 45-of-84 from deep.
This season, she is fifth in the league with a .443 shooting percentage from deep and is second in the league with 51 threes made.
Dominating Inside
This season, Christa Puthoff and Anna Hintz each have a 20+ points / 10+ rebound performance. It's the first time under Jim Wiedie that two different players have had a 20+/10+ game in the same season. Hintz is one of nine players in the league scoring at least 9 points per game and grabbing at least 6 rebounds while Puthoff has a team-high three double-doubles this year. Puthoff and Hintz have combined for six double-doubles this season, three each.
Race to 70 Points
This season, the Oilers have scored 70 or more points on seven occasions. Findlay is 6-1 in those games while going 3-10 in games where they fail to reach 70.
