Late Charge Pushes Findlay Past Hillsdale

Findlay, OH - The University of Findlay women's baseketball game improved to 11-12 overall and 5-10 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play with a 70-63 win over Hillsdale College on Thursday, Feb. 2. Hillsdale falls to 12-10 and 6-9 in conference games.

Hillsdale opened up the game strong and had a ten point lead with just two and a half minutes until halftime, however, Findlay closed the half on a 7-0 run to pull to within three at the break.

Neither team's lead reached more than four points for the entirety of the third quarter. The Oilers finally gained some ground as a triple by sophomore Anna Hintz with 8:22 to play put Findlay up by nine points and the home team cruised to the final buzzer to secure their second straight win.

Findlay shot 28-of-62 on the night and made eight triples. The major difference came on the boards where the Oilers held a 44-29 advantage.

Sophomore Christa Puthoff scored 15 points on 7-of-10 shooting and led the team with six rebounds while Hintz added 11 points and five boards.

Junior Haley Horstman also scored 11 points and grabbed five rebounds. She also had a team-high three steals.

Coming off the bench, junior Lynsey Englebrecht contributed ten points and had three asssits while sophomore Allie Thobe had six points, five rebounds, and a team-high five assists.

Findlay is back in action on Thursday, Feb. 9 in Columbus when they take on Ohio Dominican.
