Oilers Blast D1 IPFW 75-55

The University of Findlay women's basketball team blasted NCAA Division I foe Indiana-Purdue Ft. Wayne (IPFW) by a score of 75-55 on Nov. 18 in Ft. Wayne, Ind. The win, which was their first against a NCAA Division I opponent since they defeated Indiana-Purdue Indianapolis (IUPUI) by a score of 81-59 during the 1994-95 season, gives the Oilers a 3-1 record on the season.

The Oilers connected on 52.9 percent (27-of-51) of their field goal attempts and made 7-of-17 (41.2%) tries from three point range in the win. They also limited the Mastodons to a mere 35.3 percent (18-of-51) shooting clip in the victory.

Senior guard Haley Horstman led the charge with 16 points on 7-of-13 shooting while junior guard Elissa Ellerbrock had a career-high 13 points to go along with four rebounds.

Junior forward Anna Hintz had 12 points and six rebounds while senior guard Lynsey Englebrecht contributed 12 points on the strength of a 4-of-9 showing from three point range.

Junior center Christa Puthoff came off the bench to provide eight points and three rebounds while junior guard Jenna Stegmaier continued her solid all-around play with six points, six rebounds and five assists in the game.

The Oilers will now have a break before they head to Kentucky Wesleyan for their Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) opener on Nov. 30 at 6:30 p.m.
