Oilers Win 7th Straight | Beat Malone 53-47

Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay women's basketball team battled back-and-forth with last year's Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Tournament champion on Saturday, Dec. 9 in Croy Gymnasium. Despite trailing with just over six minutes to play, the Oilers finished the game strong to come away with the 53-47 victory over Malone University to improve to 7-1 on the year with a 4-0 mark in conference play. The win was their seventh straight, the second time in three seasons that the Orange and Black have put together a streak of at least seven games.

The Oilers got off to a fast start in the first four minutes of the game as they took a 9-0 lead. Malone would battle back to take the lead in the second quarter, but the Oilers closed the first half with a 27-20 lead. The Pioneers would take a 42-41 lead with just over seven minutes to play in the game, but junior center Christa Puthoff scored five straight points to give Findlay the lead for good.

Findlay shot 44.9 percent (22-of-49) from the floor and forced 16 turnovers in the game. They also held the Pioneers to a mere 34 percent (16-of-47) shooting clip.

Junior forward Anna Hintz paced the Oilers with 13 points and five rebounds while junior guard Jenna Stegmaier contributed a season-high 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting to go along with four rebounds, two assists and a steal.

Senior guard Haley Horstman nearly recorded a double-double with ten points and a career-high nine rebounds while Puthoff provided a season-high ten points off the bench. Horstman also registered a season-high four steals in the victory.

The Pioneers were led by Baylen Drylund's game-high 17 points.

The Oilers will be back in action again on Dec. 13 when they travel to Columbus, Ohio to face Ohio Dominican University at 7:30 p.m.
