Findlay, Ohio – Fighting to stay in contention in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) title race, the Oilers picked up a convincing home victory on Thursday, Feb. 8 in Croy Gymnasium. Findlay, which has not lost consecutive games this season, controlled the Lake Erie Storm from start to finish to earn an 86-65 win, improving to 17-5 overall and 14-4 in league play. The Storm, which never led in the contest, fall to 11-12 overall and 7-10 in the G-MAC and drop out of the eighth spot in the conference standings.

Both teams shot well with Findlay hitting on 33-of-65 (50.8%) shots including 10-of-24 (41.7%) from deep and Lake Erie making 25-of-52 (48.1%) from the floor. The difference in the game was, in large part, the work of the Oilers on the offensive glass. Findlay earned extra possessions, nabbing a season-high 19 offensive rebounds.

Findlay finished with 13 steals in the game, one shy of tying their season-best, and forced 19 turnovers to help secure the victory.

Senior Lynsey Englebrecht returned to form and scored a game-high 22 points on 8-of-12 from the floor. She nailed six tries from deep leaving her at 76 made triples this season, second in a season at Findlay. The sharpshooter needs just two makes from deep to tie Trisha Lauck (1997-98) at the top of the list. Englebrecht rounded out her solid performance with five rebounds, four assists, and three steals.

Fellow senior Haley Horstman, who has now scored 15 or more points in four consecutive games, scored 17 points and moved into 18th on the all-time scoring list at Findlay with 1,054 career points. Junior Anna Hintz chipped in 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds.

Providing a big lift off the bench, junior Christa Puthoff recorded a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds, seven of which came on the offensive glass. She finished a perfect 5-of-5 from the floor.

The Oilers will face Ursuline College on Saturday, Feb. 10 in a game with major G-MAC conference implications. That game will tip off at 1:00 pm in Croy Gymnasium.
