Oilers Earn No. 7 in Midwest Region

The University of Findlay women's basketball team is going dancing for the first time since the 2012-13 campaign. The Oilers earned the No. 7 seed in the 2018 NCAA Division II Midwest Region and will be one of 64 teams vying for the national championship this season.

The Oilers, who are 22-7 on the season, will be making their third appearance in the national tournament. They will face No. 2 seed Drury University in the opening round of the tournament on March 9 in Ashland, Ohio. The winner of the Midwest Region will then advance to the Elite 8, which is scheduled to take place on March 20-23 in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Findlay has a 1-2 record in NCAA Division II Tournament games. They first qualified for the event during the 2009-10 campaign and made their last appearance in 2012-13. This season, the squad has been led by junior forward Anna Hintz, who was named first team all-Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC). Senior guard Haley Horstman and Lynsey Englebrecht were each tabbed second team all-league as well.
