Oilers Win Big | Hintz Goes Over 1,000 Career Points

The University of Findlay women's basketball team cruised to a 93-62 win over Urbana University on Nov. 21 in the Croy Physical Education Center. The win gives the Oilers a 2-0 record on the season.

The Oilers started the game on a 16-0 run and ended the first half with a 51-25 lead. They then cruised through the second half to pick up the win.

Senior forward Anna Hintz led the Oilers with 19 points and 13 rebounds and became their 22nd member of the 1,000-point club on a jumper early in the first quarter. Hintz has now scored 1,012 points in a Findlay jersey and is chasing Katie Stedcke for 21st on the all-time scoring list. Stedcke put up 1,035 points from 1998-01.

Senior guard Elissa Ellerbrock also posted a double-double in the victory, finishing the game with 14 points and a career-high 12 boards while senior guard Allie Thobe recorded a career-high 12 points to go along with five assists and three rebounds.

Freshman guard Amber Schweiger had nine points while senior guard Lauren Ruth scored eight.

The Oilers shot 43.6 percent (34-of-78) from the floor and held a 53-38 advantage on the boards. They also limited the Blue Knights to a 33.3 percent (20-of-60) shooting clip and forced 22 turnovers in the win, which led to 18 steals for Findlay.

The Oilers will be back in action again on Nov. 29 when they travel to Tiffin, Ohio to take on Tiffin University at 5:30 p.m.
