Findlay Prepares for Ursuline and Lake Erie
The Game
The Oilers will play their final two home games before heading to Florida. On Thursday, Dec. 13 Findlay will host Ursuline College and two days later, welcomes Lake Erie College to Croy. Game times are 5:30 pm and 1:00 pm, respectively.

Series Information
Ursuline: The series between Ursuline and Findlay is a young one that began in the 2012-13 season, a game the Oilers won in Croy by a score of 91-49. In their two meetings last season, the Arrows were victorious in both; winning 80-73 at Ursuline and then earning a 67-65 victory in Findlay.
Last year, Anna Hintz averaged 19.5 points and 11.0 rebounds per game against Ursuline despite being matched up against the eventual G-MAC Player of the Year, Laney Lewis.
Lake Erie: Findlay holds a distinct 20-3 advantage over Lake Erie in their series which was first played as the season-opener in the 1988-89 campaign, a 106-54 victory for the Oilers.
Findlay comfortably won both matchups last season as the Oilers took down the Storm in Painesville 83-62 and later defended Croy with an 86-65 victory.
Lynsey Englebrecht was the leading scorer in last year's series, scoring 20.0 points per game. She made six three-pointers in each of the two games. In the initial contest in Painesville, Jenna Stegmaier recorded a double-double, scoring 14 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.
Findlay (4-2, 2-2 G-MAC)
After consecutive losses to a pair of the league's hottest teams, the Oilers got back on the winning track with a dominant 69-50 win at home against Malone last Saturday. In that game, senior Anna Hintz returned to form as she scored 18 points and had ten rebounds, her fourth double-double of the year.
It's no secret that the Oilers play through their 6-2 forward, Anna Hintz. She leads the league in both scoring (20.8 ppg) and rebounding (10.2 rebs) and is climbing her way up Findlay's all-time scoring list, currently in 17th with 1,093 points.
However, supplementing the play of Hintz has been an unlikely candidate. Senior Allie Thobe, who came into the year after averaging just 1.9 ppg a season ago, is scoring 10.2 points per contest this season and is shooting 50% from the floor. She is also grabbing 4.0 reb, two more per game than a season ago, and is up to 4.3 assists per game, almost three more than a season ago. Thobe also leads the team with 2.3 steals per game.
Ursuline (3-6, 2-2 G-MAC)
The Arrows have earned a spot in the Great Midwest Tournament each of the past five seasons including earning regular season championships in 2016 and 2017 and a tournament championship in 2016. This season Ursuline had to replace the loss of three-time Player of the Year and 2017-18 first team WBCA all-American Laney Lewis and second team all-conference performer Camryn Hill. Those two players combined for 36 of the Arrows' 76 points per game last season.
This season, Ursuline is scoring about ten fewer points per game. Junior Julia Cardwell is the team's leading scorer and the only player averaging double-figures at 14.9 ppg. The 6-foot forward scored a season-high 25 points against Mercyhurst earlier in the year. She is also the team leader in rebounds at 7.3 boards per game.
Bekah Green is scoring 9.6 ppg while Kaylin Burdick is chipping in 9.0 ppg and 6.2 rebounds. Emily Poling is the Arrows' biggest threat from deep as she is shooting .407, making 11-for-27 from beyond the arc.
Lake Erie (6-2, 4-0 G-MAC)
Last year, the Storm were the eighth and final seed in the G-MAC Tournament and posted a 13-16 record on the year with a 9-13 mark in league action. They have flipped the script early in the 2018-19 campaign as they are off to a hot 6-2 start and are a perfect 4-0 in league play. Their two losses, however, to Southern Indiana and Bellarmine, have been by a combined 70 points. This week will be the Storm's biggest conference test as they face the two teams selected atop the G-MAC preseason poll.
Lake Erie's 61.5 points per game as a team are the lowest of any team in the league that has a winning record and despite a 6-2 mark this year, the Storm actually have a negative scoring margin (-2.4).
For the first time in a long time, the Storm are without lethal scorer Kayla Gabor, a 16.4 ppg scorer for her career. Junior Josie Chaddock is leading Lake Erie at 13.3 ppg while sophomore Breanna Bauer and junior Farrah Benner are each scoring 10 ppg. Benner is doing the bulk of her scoring from deep as she makes 2.2 three-pointers per game.
