Findlay Set to Battle Florida Tech/Tampa in the Sunshine State

The Games

After four consecutive home contests, the Oilers have made the trip south to the state of Florida for a pair of games against teams from the Sunshine State. The first matchup pits Findlay against Florida Tech on Tuesday, Dec. 18 at 1:00 pm. The following day the Oilers will take on the University of Tampa at 3:00 pm.

Series Information

This is the first time that Findlay has played either Florida Tech or Tampa in women's basketball.

Findlay (6-2, 4-2 G-MAC)

After a pair of losses to begin December, Findlay has rattled off three straight wins to improve to 6-2 on the year and are now up to third in the Great Midwest standings.

Announced earlier today, senior Anna Hintz has collected Great Midwest Player of the Week honors for the second time this season after her dominating performances last week. On the season, Hintz is scoring 21.3 points per game and grabbing a league-best 10.1 rebounds per game. Her field goal percentage of .560 is best in the league which includes an impressive .536 shooting percentage from beyond the arc (15-of-28).

Senior Elissa Ellerbrock is scoring 9.9 points per game and grabbing 5.4 boards per game as well. She has a team-best assist/turnover ratio of 3-to-1. Leading the team in assists is senior Allie Thobe who gets 4.0 assists per game. She is also scoring 9.4 ppg, grabbing 4.0 reb, and leads the team with 2.1 steals per game.

Florida Tech (2-6, 0-2 SSC)

Out of the Sunshine State Conference (SSC), the Panthers are off to a slow start in 2018-19 as they have just two wins in their first eight contests of the season and are scoring just 60.3 points per game, second-lowest in the league.

Leading the way for the Panthers is Gracie Doane who is scoring 12.4 ppg. She earns the majority of her points from three-point range as 26 of her 31 made field goals are from deep.

The threat inside is from 5-9 forward Kallyn Ebb who is chipping in 9.9 ppg and leads the team at 6.8 rebounds per game.

Tampa (7-2, 2-1 SSC)

Also out of the SSC is the Tampa Spartans who are currently in a tie for third in the league standings. The Spartans began the season with five consecutive wins before splitting their previous four contests, 2-2.

Senior Staja Tyghter is the leading scorer for Tampa at 14.0 ppg and is second on the squad with 8.2 rebounds per game. Sophomore Dori Nagy and senior Emily Eshoo are scoring 11.9 and 11.0 ppg, respectively. Nagy is nearly averaging a double-double as she is pulling in 9.9 rebounds per game. Nagy had a season-high 16 rebounds on Nov. 24 against Alaska-Fairbanks and has reached double-digit rebounds in four games this season.
