Ruth Scores Career-High in Oilers Win at Lake Erie

Painesville, Ohio – The University of Findlay women's basketball team traveled to Painesville, Ohio on Saturday, Feb. 22 to take on the Storm of Lake Erie College and came away with a 73-64 victory. With the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) victory, the Oilers are now 15-11 overall and sit at 11-5 in the conference while the Storm fall to 10-17 on the year and 7-10 in G-MAC play.

Findlay, which defeated the Storm at home 82-74 earlier this season, never trailed in Saturday's game. The Oilers led by ten at halftime and would build a third quarter lead of 16 points to secure the win.

Findlay connected on 44-percent of their shots from the floor (24-of-54) including hitting 46-percent (6-of-13) from beyond the three-point line.

Sophomore Sydney Kin, the reigning G-MAC Player of the Week, scored 20 points on 8-of-10 from the floor. It is the fourth consecutive game that Kin has scored at least 20 points in a game. The Carey, Ohio native also led Findlay with eight rebounds.

Senior Lauren Ruth poured in a career-high 16 points that included a pair of triples and a perfect 6-for-6 performance from the charity stripe. Ruth also secured five rebounds, had two assists, and added a steal. Sophomores Amber Schweiger and Bridget Landin each scored ten points to round out Findlay's double-digit scorers. Landin had six rebounds and a team-high three steals while Schweiger led the team with four assists.

Sophomore Paige Bellman scored six points, had seven rebounds, had two steals, and blocked two shots.

Findlay will take on Cedarville on Wednesday, Feb. 26 for their final road game of the year. That game will tip off at 5:30 pm.
