Oilers Lose Tenth Straight | Fall to Malone

Findlay, Ohio - The University of Findlay women's basketball team came up short against the Malone Pioneers on Saturday, Jan. 21 by a score of 76-68 in Croy Gymnasium. The loss is the tenth consecutive for the Oilers and brings their record to 4-15 on the season with a 1-10 mark in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play while Malone improves to 14-5 on the year with an 8-3 record in the conference.

Findlay turned the ball over a season-low nine times on Saturday, but the Pioneers' hot shooting was too much as the Orange and Black came up short.

Trailing by 11 through one quarter, the Oilers showed fight as they pulled to within five at the half, trailing just 33-28 with 20 minutes to play.

However, Malone was red hot from the floor, especially from three-point range, and went on to earn the eight-point victory. 

The Pioneers made 57% of their shots from the floor compared to Findlay which shot 43% (28-of-65). Malone made 9-of-16 from three-point range compared to 5-of-25 by the Oilers. Rebounding also went in favor of the visitors, 34-to-24.

Junior Kate Ellis led Findlay with 15 points on 7-of-13 from the floor. She also had four rebounds and four assists. Fellow junior Valerie Muhlenkamp chipped in 12 points and grabbed four rebounds and had two assists. 

Sophomore Chloe Callahan scored 11 points while freshman Alyssa Ziehler had ten to round of the double-figure scorers for the Oilers.

Findlay is back on the court when they host Ursuline College on Thursday, Jan. 26 at 5:30 pm.
