Gubser Wins Give 18 Fore Cancer Classic
The University of Findlay women's golf team placed third out of 13 teams at the Ohio Dominican Give 18 Fore Cancer Classic, which concluded on Sunday, April 1. The Oilers shot a 622 (314, 318), their third lowest total in program history.
Ashley Gubser led the charge and won the tournament with a 146.
Gubser fired a 75 during the first round of competition and then came back with a 1-under par score of 71 in the final round to take top honors.
The 71 by Gubser in the final round is the second lowest 18-hole score in the history of UF women's golf.
Michele Schambs also shot well for Findlay, finishing tenth with a 155 (77, 78) while Brooke Albers tied for 18th with a 159 (79, 80).
Lauren Vogt (86, 79 – 165), Trelyn Gerlinger (83, 90 – 173), Heather Steiner (89, 90 – 179) and Emily Mock (103, 94 – 197) also competed for the Oilers at the event.
The Oilers will be back on the course again at the Tiffin Invitational on April 15-16.
