Oilers are in 4th at Regional, Remain in the Hunt for National Bid

The University of Findlay women's golf team remains in fourth place at the 2013 NCAA Division II Super Regional 1 Tournament, which concluded second round action on Monday, May 6 at the Joilet Country Club in Joilet, Ill.

The Oilers, who shot a 330 in the opening round on Sunday, were 11 strokes better in the second round as they finished with a 319.  Their total score of 649 leaves them in striking distance of qualifying for the NCAA Division II National Championship, which is slated to begin on May 15 in Daytona Beach, Fla.

The Oilers are three strokes behind Ashland University (646) for third place and six strokes behind California University of Pennsylvania (643), who is in second place.  The top three teams from the regional will advance to the championship round.

Lauren Vogt carded a 77 on the second day and is currently tied for 11th place with a 159 (82, 77) while Kasey Petty fired a 78 and is tied for 13th with a 160 (82, 78).

Vogt had 12 pars and one birdie during her second round while Petty recorded ten pars and two birdies on Monday.

Brooke Albers is also ranked in the top-20, sitting in a tie for 19th place with a 163 (83, 80).

Michele Schambs (83, 88 – 171) and Hanna Schneider (87, 84 – 171) are tied for 35th at the tournament.
