Oilers in 7th at National Championship After Day 3

The University of Findlay women's golf team completed day three of the 2014 NCAA Division II National Championship on May 16 at the Rock Barn Golf and Spa in Canover, N.C.

The Oilers finished the day with a 307, their lowest mark yet. They shot a 309 in each of the first two rounds and are currently in seventh place with a 54-hole score of 925.

Sophomore Kasey Petty led the team on the third day, carding a 3-over par score of 74.  Petty scattered 12 pars in with two birdies.  She bogeyed three holes and took a double bogey on 18 to end the day.

Petty is currently in a tie for 18th at the tournament with a score of 226 (77, 75, 74).

Junior Michele Schambs also had a great day for Findlay after posting a 4-over par score of 75.  Schambs was aided by 14 pars during her round. She has shot a 226 (72, 79, 75) through three rounds to tie Petty for 18th at the tournament.

Freshman Shelby Warner posted an 81 on Friday and is tied for 45th with a 234 (78, 75, 81) while senior Brooke Albers posted her best score of the tournament with a 77 in the third round.  She is now in a tie for 55th with a 239 (82, 80, 77).

Sophomore Hannah Schneider turned in an 87 today and is in 70th place at the tournament with a 257 (86, 84, 87).

Lynn University continues to lead the championship with a score of 882 (294, 297, 291) while Barry University is in second place with an 895 (305, 289, 301).

The University of Indianapolis was the low scorer today as they fired a 292 to move into fifth place with a 913 (310, 311, 292).

The championship will conclude tomorrow.
