Oilers Take 3rd at Pioneer Invitational

Results

The University of Findlay women's golf team finished third at the Pioneer Invitational, which concluded on Oct. 19 at the Legends of Massillon in Massillon, Ohio.

The Oilers were leading the event after day one with a score of 301 and came back with a 309 in the second round for a total of 610. Ashland took home the title after posting a 595 (305, 290).

Senior Michele Schambs led the way as she took third at the tournament with a two-round score of 148. Schambs carded a 1-under par score of 71 in the opening round on Saturday and came back with a 77 on Sunday for her total.

Sophomore Shelby Warner also posted a top-10 finish for the Oilers, placing tenth with a 152. Warner posted a 78 in the first round before coming back with a 2-over par score of 74 in the final round of competition.

Junior Kasey Petty tied for 11th with a 153 (74, 79) while freshman Kelsey Koesters took 15th with a 157 (78, 79).

Junior Hannah Schneider also played well for Findlay, carding a 158 (79, 79). Her total enabled her to tie for 16th at the event.

The Oilers will return in the spring.
