Petty Wins at Tiffin, Oilers Finish 2nd
Junior Kasey Petty won the Tiffin Invitational on April 12-13 at the Mohawk Country Club in a playoff to lead the Oilers to a second place finish at the event. The Oilers finished the tournament with a score of 645 (321, 324), eight strokes behind Grand Valley State University, who won the event with a 637.
Petty carded a two-round score of 154 (78, 76) to tie Ashland's Kaitlin Neumann for first place after 36 holes of competition. Petty then defeated Neumann on the first playoff hole with a birdie.
Senior Michele Schambs and sophomore Shelby Warner also played well at the tournament as each golfer turned in top-10 finishes. Schambs was tied for third with a 156 (78, 78) while Warner tied for tenth with a 165 (79, 86).
Freshman Kelsey Koesters tied for 28th with a 172 (88, 84), sophomore Taylor Tweed tied for 37th after carding a 176 (85, 91) and junior Hannah Schneider tied for 45th with a 179 (86, 93) to round out the other Oilers in the top-50.
Freshman Haley Gray (94, 89 – 183) and freshman Erin Scoby (93, 91 – 184) also competed for Findlay at the event.
The Oilers will golf again on April 18-19 at the Cavalier Classic. The tournament is scheduled to be held at the Glenmoor Country Club in Canton, Ohio.
