Schambs, Petty Named 1st Team All-GLIAC

2015 All-GLIAC Teams

Senior Michele Schambs and junior Kasey Petty were each tabbed first team all-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) on April 26. Both players helped lead the Oilers to a second place finish at the GLIAC Championship with 54-hole school record-breaking score of 931 (312, 302, 317).

Schambs was the Oilers top finisher at the event, which wrapped up action on April 26 at the Findlay Country Club, by placing second with a 219. She finished only three strokes behind Grand Valley State's Gabrielle Shipley, who won the tournament.

Schambs opened the tournament with even-par scores of 72 during the first two rounds of competition. She then closed the event with a 75 on Sunday. The Chillicothe, Ohio native posted seven birdies during the tournament and recorded 38 pars during the tournament for Findlay. In the final round, she posted three of her birdies and ended the tournament three strokes over par.

Schambs has twice been named second team all-conference (2012, 2014) and was an honorable mention pick in 2013.

Petty also recorded a top-five finish for Findlay at the tournament as she placed fourth with a 230, the fifth lowest 54-hole score in school history. Petty recorded a 77 on Sunday to go along with her 77 on the first day and 76 on the second. Her consistency was rewarded as she was tabbed first team all-conference as well.

The Groveport, Ohio native was an honorable mention all-conference pick last year for Findlay.

In addition, sophomore Shelby Warner was named second team all-conference while head coach Dominic Guarnieri earned GLIAC Co-Coach of the Year honors.

Warner finished the tournament in 13th place with a 237 (83, 72, 82). The Elida, Ohio native was an honorable mention all-league pick last year.

Guarnieri guided the team to their highest finish ever at the conference championship in 2015. He shared the award with Grand Valley State's Rebecca Mallioux.

Guarnieri is in his second season with the Oilers, helping them to a seventh place finish at the national championship last year.
