Schambs, Petty Earn All-East Region Honors

All-Region

Senior Michele Schambs and junior Kasey Petty were each tabbed all-East Region by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA).

Petty tied for second place at the 2015 NCAA Division II East Regional with a 54-hole score of 226, the third lowest total in school history. She was one stroke off of first place, which Kelly Hartigan of Grand Valley State University captured with a 225 (75, 73, 77).

Petty began the tournament with a 78 and then followed with a 1-over par score of 73 during the second round. She then closed the tournament with a 75. She also placed fourth at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament with a three-round score of 230 (77, 76, 77) to earn first team all-conference accolades.

Schambs finished in a tie for eighth place at the East Regional with a score of 230. She recorded a 77 in the opening round and then followed with a 78 in the second. She then ended the tournament with a 75 for her total of 230, which was the fifth lowest 54-hole score in school history. The senior also placed second at the GLIAC Tournament, posting a 54-hole score of 219, which was good enough to set a new school record and earn her first team all-conference accolades. She shot a 72 in each of the first two rounds before coming back with a 75 during the final round of competition.

Both players are in action this week at the NCAA Division II National Championship, which is being held at the Meadows in Allendale, Mich.
