Oilers Finish as the Runner-Up at Ashland
The University of Findlay women's golf team took second at the Ashland Invitational, which wrapped up second round action on Oct. 4 at the Mohican Hills Golf Club in Jeromesville, Ohio.
The Oilers shot a 638 (323, 315) to finish as the runner-up. Ashland won the event with a score of 626 (322, 304).
Freshman Samantha Hatter led the team with a 153, which was good enough for second place. She shot an 80 in the opening round and then came back with a 1-over par score of 73 in the second to secure her runner-up status.
Senior Kasey Petty tied for tenth with teammate Shelby Warner, a junior. Petty fired a 162 (81, 81) while Warner posted a 162 (83, 79) as well.
Sophomore Kelsey Koesters tied for 15th with a 163 (83, 80) while freshman Makenzie Torres tied for 17th with a 164 (79, 85).
Freshman Mikaela Hickey (87, 82 – 169), senior Hannah Schneider (87, 84 – 171) and sophomore Erin Scoby (93, 88 – 181) also compete for Findlay.
The Oilers will be back in action again on Oct. 11-12 when they host the William Bing-Beall Classic at the Findlay Country Club.
