Oilers Take 14th at Peggy Kirk Bell Invite
The University of Findlay women's golf team placed 14th at the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational, which concluded on March 1 at the Tuscawilla Country Club in Winter Springs, Fla. The Oilers shot a three-round score of 942 (313, 325, 304) at the tournament. Their score of 942 was the third-lowest 54-hole score in school history.
Senior Kasey Petty led the team and tied for 17th at the tournament with a 226, the fourth best 54-hole score in school history. Petty fired a 75 in round one and then came back with a 78 in round two. She then closed the tournament with a 1-over par score of 73 in the final round.
Freshman Makenzie Torres tied for 36th with a 231 (78, 79, 74), the ninth-lowest score in school history, while junior Shelby Warner posted a 234 (77, 81, 76), which was good for 47th at the event.
Sophomore Kelsey Koesters (84, 84, 82 – 240), freshman Samantha Hatter (83, 87, 81 – 251), freshman Mikaela Hickey (92, 87, 82 – 261) and senior Hannah Schneider (91, 89, 92 – 272) also competed for Findlay at the event.
The Oilers will return home to take part in the Perry Park Invitational in Perry Park, Ky. on March 19-20.
