Leading the way for the Oilers was senior standout Kasey Petty, who shot a five over, 77. Petty, who started on hole number six, finished four over on the front nine, but birdies on holes 11 and 13 guided her to a back nine score of 37, just one over. Her score of 77 was tied for sixth-best on the day.

Junior Shelby Warner finished two shots behind Petty and finished with a seven over, 79 after the first round. Warner also began on the sixth hole and parred eight straight holes (8-15) and was just two over after her first 11 holes. She got in trouble in her final four holes with bogeys on holes two, three, and five and a double bogey on four. Her 79 has her placed in 11th after the first day.
