The University of Findlay women's golf team wrapped up day three of the 2016 NCAA Division II National Championship on May 20 at the CommonGround Golf Course in Aurora, Colo. The Oilers posted a school record-breaking 297 on Friday and are currently in eighth place with a 54-hole score of 899 (299, 303, 297). Their three round score of 899 shattered the previous school record of 912, which was set at the Perry Park Spring Fling earlier this season.

Senior Kasey Petty had an incredible round three for the Oilers as she shot a 3-under par score of 69, the third-lowest 18-hole score in school history. Petty made six birdies on the day to bring her total to 14, which is the most of any golfer at the championship tournament. Three of her birdies on Friday came on par five holes. During the event, Petty has recorded a score of 7-under par on par fives, the second-best mark in the field.

Petty will head into the final round of action in a tie for first place with a 54-hole score of 213, the lowest in school history. She has improved by two strokes during each round of the tournament after beginning the event with a 73 on Wednesday. She then shot a 1-under par score of 71 on Thursday before firing her 3-under par 69 during the third round.

The Groveport, Ohio native is tied with Tarleton State's Isabell Jimenez Perea and Grand Valley State's Gabrielle Shipley for the tournament lead. The trio of standouts will all play in the final pairing tomorrow.

Junior Shelby Warner also had an outstanding round and registered a 1-over par score of 73 on day three. Warner had 15 pars on the day and sprinkled in one birdie on hole number seven. She is currently tied for 23rd at the tournament with an 8-over par 224 (75, 76, 73), the fourth-lowest 54-hole score in school history.

Freshman Makenzie Torres posted a 3-over par score of 75 during the third round and added three more birdies. She has accumulated 11 birdies during the 54-holes, the fourth best mark in the tournament. Currently, Torres is tied for 42nd at the event with a score of 228 (77, 76, 75).

Sophomore Samantha Hatter recorded an 80 during Friday's round and is in 61st place with a score of 234 (74, 80, 80) while sophomore Kelsey Koesters had an 81 and is in 71st place with a 252 (84, 87, 81).

The championship will conclude tomorrow.
