Top-10 Individual Performances - #1 Kasey Petty

The 2015-16 athletic year was another successful season for the Oilers, who saw a plethora of individual athletes achieve outstanding accomplishments. The UF athletic media relations staff has put together a list of the top-10 individual performances from the 2015-16 campaign and will be revealing them during the month of June.

#1 (Kasey Petty, Women's Golf)

Kasey Petty capped an outstanding career with a historic senior season for the Oilers women's golf team. She was tabbed the 2016 GLIAC Golfer of the Year and earned first team NCAA Division II All-American honors.

A first team all-region and first team all-conference pick in 2016, Petty closed her senior season on an incredible run that began when she finished in a tie for the lead after 54-holes at the GLIAC Tournament (April 22-24). Petty would fall in sudden death, but fired a 1-under par score of 215 (70, 74, 71) at the tournament.

At the NCAA Division II East Regional (May 2-4), Petty again shot 1-under for the tournament and finished with a 215 (67, 74, 74) as she garnered runner-up honors. Her opening round, 5-under par score of 67 set a new 18-hole school record as well.

Petty then capped her career by taking runner-up honors at the 2016 NCAA Division II National Championship (May 18-21). She shot a school record 5-under par score of 283 (73, 71, 69, 70) and recorded 17 birdies at the event, the second-best total at the tournament.

The Groveport, Ohio native averaged 73.97 strokes per round during the 2016 campaign, the fourth-best total among all NCAA Division II women's golfers. She tied for seventh in the nation with a total of 74 birdies and ranked fourth nationally with a 4.93 scoring average on par five holes.

Petty's run did not end even though her eligibility at Findlay had. A few days after taking runner-up honors at the NCAA Division II National Championship, she won a qualifying tournament at the Westwood Country Club on May 24 in St. Louis to punch her ticket to the 2016 U.S. Women's Open. Petty won the tournament with a 3-over par score of 147 (74, 73) and will now compete with the best women's golfers in the world at the major tournament on July 7-10. The event will be held at the CordeValle Golf Club in San Martin, Calif.

Besides her accomplishments on the golf course, Petty was also selected as the Oilers Coca-Cola Award winner for women's golf. The award goes to the student-athlete with the highest grade point average on each individual team. She was also tabbed the Oilers Female Mancuso Award winner, which is handed out each year to Findlay's top student-athlete. The award takes into consideration athletic and academic achievements as well as community involvement.

Petty was also named a Capital One Academic All-American and All-District performer for the Oilers in 2016 as well.
