Perry Park, KY – The University of Findlay women's golf team played 27 holes of the Perry Park Spring Fling in Perry Park, Kentucky on Saturday, March 25. As a team, the Oilers shot a 297 in the first 18 holes and are currently +6 through the next nine holes, which will conclude tomorrow. Findlay, which last won a tournament on October 18, 2016 when they won the Dayton Fall Invitational, is currently in sole possession of first place.

Sophomore Makenzie Torres played some of her best golf of the spring and fired a -2 (70) in her first 18 holes, the lowest round of any player in the field and tied for the fourth-lowest score in Findlay history. After shooting +4 (40) through her next nine holes, Torres currently sits in a tie for first place at +2 (110).

Close behind in a tie for fourth place are senior Shelby Warner and freshman Meredith Wipper. Warner shot a +5 (77) in her first 18 holes, but rallied for a -1 (35) through the next nine to wrap up the day at +4 (112). Wipper began her day with a +4 (76) and then shot an even-par 36 to finish the day at +4.

Sophomore Samantha Hatter carded a +2 (74) in her first round of action. In the next nine, Hatter shot a +3 (39) and is currently in a tie for tenth with a +5 (113) while freshman Mackenzie Keenoy is in a tie for 19th with a +9 (117). She shot a +7 (79) in her first 18 holes and came back with a +2 (38) in the next nine.

Playing as individuals, freshman Samantha Kellstrom is in a tie for 42nd with a +14 (122) and junior Kelsey Koesters is in 66th with a +20 (128).

The Oilers will play 27 holes tomorrow, March 26, to wrap up the three round event.
