Warner Shoots 73 | Oilers Finish in Second at NC4K

Blacklick, OH – The University of Findlay women's golf team finished the NC4K Classic at the Jefferson Country Club on a high note on Monday, April 3. As a team, the Oilers cut 12 strokes off of their first round score as they shot a 303 on day two to finish with a score of 618. That score gave the team a second place finish in the 18-team event.

The top finisher in the tournament for the Oilers was sophomore Makenzie Torres who shot a 78 (+6) in the round after a 73 yesterday. She ends with a 151 (+7) for the event and finished in a tie for sixth place. Torres ended her round with a highlight as she recorded an eagle on the 530 yard, par 5, 18th hole. It was one of three eagles in the tournament.

Findlay's low score of the day came from senior Shelby Warner. After shooting a 79 in Sunday's round, Warner came back and carded a 73 (+1) in round two to finish with a 152 (+8) for the tournament. She finished in a tie for ninth overall.

Sophomore Samantha Hatter and freshman Samantha Kellstrom finished in the third and fourth spots for Findlay. Hatter, who finished fourth in the field with five birdies in the tournament, shot a 75 (+3) on Monday, seven shots better than her Sunday round to finish with a 157 (+13), good for T16th. Kellstrom finished in T18th with a 158 (+14) after shooting a 77 (+5) on Monday.

Rounding out the team scores for the Oilers was freshman Meredith Wipper who shot an 80 (+8) to finish with a 163 (+19). She finished in a tie for 33rd.

Freshman Mackenzie Keenoy performed well as an individual and finished with a 160 (+16) for the tournament after carding an 82 (+10) in Monday's round. Her score placed her in 25th overall.

The Oilers are back on the course on April 8-9 when they travel to Bowling Green for the Falcon Invite.
