Nashport, Ohio – The University of Findlay women's golf team handled the cold temperatures at The Virtues Golf Club and shot a 304 as a team and are currently in first place with a two-round score of 612 (+16), 13 shots ahead of Northern Michigan who is in second. The Oilers have taken advantage of the lengthy holes on the course as they have combined to be -2 with a stroke average of 4.95 on par 5s. They also pace the field with an astounding 25 birdies in their two rounds, 11 more than the next best team.

Sophomore Makenzie Torres, who came into the day in the top spot on the leaderboard, kept up her stellar play with a 72 (E), the best round of the day by any player in the field. She carded four birdies in her round, two in each set of nine holes. She has taken advantage of the par 4s on the course, shooting a -1 on those holes for the tournament with a stroke average of 3.95. Makenzie's ten birdies in the two rounds are the most in the field.

Senior Shelby Warner moved up three spots from yesterday and is now in a tie for second place with a 150 (+6). She shot a 74 (+2) today on the strength of three birdies. She shot a 38 on the front nine and came back with an even-par 36 on the back. She leads the field in par 3 scoring at even par and is tied for second in par 5 scoring at -1.

Making a big move up the leaderboard was freshman Meredith Wipper who moved up 18 spots into 11th overall. She shot a 76 (+4) in the second round and has a two-day total of 160 (+16). After starting the day with a triple bogey, a birdie on the fourth hole and an eagle on the tenth helped her shoot +1 over her final 17 holes.

Freshman Samantha Kellstrom and sophomore Samantha Hatter rounded out the Oilers scores and are in a tie for 12th and a tie for 23rd, respectively. Kellstrom carded an 86 (+14) in today's round while Hatter shot an 82 (+10).

The third and final round will be played tomorrow with the women teeing off in the morning slot.
