Oilers in 8th at Nationally Competitive Tournament

Carmel, Ind. - The University of Findlay women's golf team played the first of two rounds of the UIndy Fall Invitational held at Prairie View Golf Club on Monday, September 11. Through 18 holes, the Oilers find themselves in eighth place after carding a 312 as a team. The tournament is playing host to 14 different schools, seven of which, including Findlay, ended last season ranked in the top 25 according to Golfstat.

Junior Makenzie Torres and junior Samantha Hatter led the team, each shooting a 76 (+4) in the opening round. Torres tied for the fourth-most pars made on the day with 13 while Hatter was tied for second in the field on par three scoring at -1. They are each tied for 15th individually.

Freshman Kristina Kniesly, currently tied for 32nd, carded a 78 (+6) in her first round and also had 13 pars made while sophomore Meredith Wipper and sophomore Samantha Kellstrom, tied in 59th, each shot 82 (+10) to round out the scoring for Findlay.

Competing as individuals were sophomore Mackenzie Keenoy, senior Kelsey Koesters, and sophomore Mikaela Hickey. Keenoy had the best round of any athlete not competing as part of a team with a 77 (+5). She is tied for 25th. Koesters shot an 81 (+9 | T54) and Hickey carded an 89 (+17 | 79).

The final round of the event will take place tomorrow.
