Findlay Finishes in 9th in Carmel

Carmel, Ind. – The University of Findlay women's golf team wrapped up the UIndy Fall Invitational on Tuesday, September 12 with a score of 311, one shot better than their first round score. The 36-hole score of 623 gives the Oilers a ninth place finish in a tournament that features seven teams that finished last season ranked in the top 25, per Golfstat.

Last year's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) medalist, junior Makenzie Torres was the highest finisher for Findlay in the event, posting a score of 150. She shot a 74 (+2) in Tuesday's round, propelling her into a tie for 11th.

After a 76 on the first day, junior Samantha Hatter shot an 81 on Tuesday to take 39th place with a 157. Close behind her were sophomores Meredith Wipper and Samantha Kellstrom who each carded a 78 to finish with a score of 160. They tied for 46th overall while freshman Kristina Kniesly, who shot an 83 on Tuesday, finished in a tie for 53rd with a 161.

Senior Kelsey Koesters was Findlay's top finisher competing as an individual after shooting a 77 (+5) in the final round. She finished with a 158, good enough to tie for 40th. Sophomore Mackenzie Keenoy finished in a tie for 46th (83 | 160) and sophomore Mikaela Hickey ended the event in a tie for 78th (87 | 176).

Findlay's next event is the G-MAC Fall Invitational which will be held at the Findlay Country Club on Sep. 18-19.
