Oilers Ninth in Field of Division I Teams in South Carolina

Hilton Head, SC – The University of Findlay women's golf team competed on the first day of the Low Country Intercollegiate Invitational, hosted by Wofford College, on Saturday, March 17 and are currently in ninth place in a field consisting of 14 teams. The Oilers, the only school that is not a Division I institution, shot a first round score of 320 (+32) on the par 72, 5,901 yard course.

Junior Makenzie Torres led Findlay with a 79 (+7) which has her in a tie for 28th, seven shots off the leader, Cassie Pantelas (Seton Hall) who shot an even-par 72.

Fellow junior Samantha Hatter and freshman Kristina Kniesly each carded an 80 (+8) and are in a tie for 34th while sophomore Meredith Wipper shot an 81 (+9) and is in a tie for 39th. Sophomore Samantha Kellstrom rounded out the scoring with an 88 (+16) on the day. She finds herself in a tie for 65th.

Findlay will be back on the course tomorrow morning beginning at 9:30 am. Makenzie Torres will tee off first followed by Hatter, Kniesly, Wipper, and Kellstrom. The Oilers will be playing with student-athletes from Indiana State University and Presbyterian College.
