Findlay in Second Through One Round at William Beall Fall Invite

Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay women's golf team played host to the first day of the annual William Beall Fall Classic at rain-soaked Findlay Country Club on Sunday, Oct. 7. Findlay, ranked no. 17 in the nation, fired a 300 and currently sits in second place, five shots behind the no. 16 team in the country, Missouri-St. Louis.

Sophomore Kristina Kniesly made a round-best four birdies in her first 18 holes to finish with an even-par 72. She currently leads the tournament by one shot.

Just behind Kniesly is junior Samantha Kellstrom who made par on 13 holes to finish with a one-over, 73. Kellstrom is tied with three other players in second while senior Samantha Hatter is also in the top-ten, sitting in a tie for ninth in the individual standings. Hatter made one birdie on the day and parred her final three holes to shoot a 75 (+3).

Senior Makenzie Torres and junior Meredith Wipper rounded out the Oilers' lineup. Torres is in a tie for 39th after posting an 80 (+8) while Wipper posted an 81 (+9) and is tied for 45th.

Junior Mackenzie Keenoy made par on eight of her first nine holes and shot a 78 (+6) which places her in a tie for 25th. Fellow junior Mikaela Hickey fired an 80 (+8) and freshman Jill Schmitmeyer shot an 81 (+9) to round out the individual scores for Findlay.
