Women's Lacrosse Earns 1st Victory

The University of Findlay women's lacrosse team captured their first career victory with a 17-16 win over McKendree University on Sunday, March 17 in Lebanon, Ill.  The Oilers win gives the program a 1-5 record on the season.

The Oilers jumped out to a 12-9 lead at the break and found themselves in a 16-16 tie at the 11:19 mark of the second half.  Mackenzie Barnwell then scored her seventh and final goal of the day at the 9:03 mark and Findlay's defense carried the team the rest of the way en route to the victory.

The Oilers peppered the goal all day long and held a 38-27 advantage in the shot department. They were also 14-of-18 in clear attempts during the victory.

Barnwell scored a season-high seven goals on nine shots while Sarah Lankton registered six goals and an assist.

Lex Renner picked up the win in the goal for the Oilers by making five saves.

Findlay will return to the field again on March 19 when they face Mercyhurst College at 4 p.m. in Erie, Pa.
