Women's Lacrosse Schedule Features 11 Home Games

The University of Findlay women's lacrosse program has announced their 2014 schedule as they enter their second year of existence.

The Oilers finished with a 6-12 record last season, which included a perfect 4-0 mark at home.  In 2014 the Oilers will be in front of the home crowd 11 times, including a nine-game home stretch from March 9 through April 6.

Sophomore Sarah Lankton returns to lead the team after being named the 2013 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Freshman of the Year.

As a first-year player, Lankton earned first team all-conference honors and ranked second in the GLIAC with 71 goals.  She also recorded 126 draw controls and caused 27 turnovers, which ranked second in the conference as well.

The Carmel, Ind. native also racked up a total of 95 points, snatched 90 ground balls and scored a league-high 28 free position goals.

The Oilers also return junior Jenah Eastep, who earned second team all-conference accolades.

Eastep started all 18 games for the Oilers and registered 38 ground balls.  She also caused ten turnovers and won six draws on the season.

Sophomore Mackenzie Barnwell (50 goals), sophomore Taylor Trice (34 goals), sophomore Olivia Porcaro (27 goals) and sophomore Victoria Predmore (23 goals) all return after having successful seasons as well.

The Oilers will begin their spring season with an exhibition game at home against Davenport on Feb. 24 at 4 p.m.  They will then start off their regular season schedule on the road at St. Anselm on March 1 at 1 p.m. before heading to Stonehill on March 4 at 3 p.m.

Findlay begins their nine-game home stretch against Lock Haven on March 9 at 2 p.m.  They will then host Shepherd at 3 p.m. on March 12, play Mercyhurst at 12 p.m. on March 15, welcome McKendree to town on March 22 for a 1 p.m. game, host Bridgeport on March 27 at 7 p.m. and then conclude the month of March against St. Thomas Aquinas at 1 p.m. on March 29.

The Oilers will begin April with a home game against Tiffin at 4 p.m. on April 2 and then host Grand Valley State on April 4 at 4 p.m.  Their nine-game home stretch will then end on April 6 when they welcome Ursuline to tow for a 4 p.m. start on April 6.

Findlay will head to Wheeling Jesuit on April 11 for a 4 p.m. game and then remain on the road to face Urbana on April 13 at 1 p.m.  They will then host Alderson-Broaddus on April 17 at 4 p.m. before traveling to Lake Erie for a game on April 19 at 12 p.m.

The Oilers last two regular season games will start at home on April 22 at 4 p.m. against Notre Dame (Ohio) and end on the road with a game against Walsh on April 25.

The GLIAC Tournament is scheduled to begin on April 29 with the semifinals and finals scheduled for May 2 and 4, respectively.
