Oilers Drop Nail Biter Against Shepherd

The University of Findlay women's lacrosse team suffered a tough 19-18 loss to Shepherd University on Tuesday, March 11 at Donnell Stadium in Findlay, Ohio.

The Oilers fell behind by a score of 12-6 at the half, but battled back to tie the game at 18-18 when Melissa Peters connected on a free position goal at the 2:03 mark.  Shepherd then took a 19-18 lead when Georgia Karr raced down the field and scored with only 22 seconds remaining.  Shepherd then won the ensuing draw control and were able to run out the clock.

Sarah Lankton led the Oilers with four goals and three assists while Peters, Kyra Bradley and Nicole Stines each had three scores apiece.

Rachel Murray was all over the field and picked up eight groundballs.  Katie Poorman stopped eight shots between the pipes for Findlay as well.

Both teams picked up 32 groundballs apiece and Findlay held a 21-18 advantage in draw controls.

The Oilers are scheduled to host Mercyhurst University at 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 15.
