Oilers Lacrosse Scores 1st Win

The University of Findlay women's lacrosse team recorded their first win of the season with a 15-13 victory over McKendree on Saturday, March 22 at Donnell Stadium.  The win gives the Oilers a 1-5 record on the season.

The Oilers were clinging to a one-point lead at 9-8 when the first half ended, but scored two goals to open the second half.  McKendree then answered with four straight scores to take a 12-11 lead, but Findlay battled back to put four more in the net during the final 16 minutes of play.

Kyra Bradley had a big day for Findlay, scoring a game-high give goals.  She also added three ground balls in the victory.

Sarah Lankton stuffed the stat sheet with four goals, seven draw controls, five caused turnovers, five ground balls and an assist while Mackenzie Barnwell chipped in two goals for Findlay.

Katie Poorman picked up her first win between the pipes by making three saves.

The Oilers held a slight 33-29 advantage in ground balls during the contest and forced McKendree into 24 turnovers in a game that featured a total of 76 fouls.

The Oilers will return to action again on March 27 when they hit the road to take on Bridgeport at 7 p.m.
