Lankton Scores Late, Gives Oilers 12-11 Win

The University of Findlay women's lacrosse team captured their first victory of the season in thrilling fashion with a 12-11 win over Georgian Court on March 1 in Clermont, Fla.

The Oilers, who are now 1-2 on the season, trailed Georgian Court by an 11-9 margin with under seven minutes to play. Senior Mackenzie Barnwell got the rally going by scoring on a free position shot with 5:36 to play and then junior Kyra Bradley tied the game at 11-11 with 4:27 remaining on a free position shot as well. Tied at 11-11, senior Sarah Lankton broke through to score the game-winning goal with only 12 seconds to play.

Bradley led the team with five goals while Lankton added three goals, three assists, three ground balls and three draw controls.

Barnwell scored a pair of goals to go along with four draws as well.

The game was played evenly statistically, but the Oilers held a 15-9 advantage in draw controls.

The Oilers will return to action on March 3 when they face the University of Tampa at 7:30 p.m.
