Dragons Stop Oilers Winning Streak

The University of Findlay women's lacrosse team saw their six-game winning streak come to an end on March 30 as Tiffin University defeated the Oilers by a score of 20-9 in Tiffin, Ohio. The loss gives the Oilers a 6-3 record on the season with a 2-1 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Dragons came out on fire and went up 8-0 on the Oilers midway through the first half. The Oilers then began to mount a comeback, cutting the lead to four at 9-5 with just over four minutes to play in the opening period. The Oilers would then tack on two more goals before the break, but Tiffin added three to their total to make the score 12-7 at the break.

In the second half, the Dragons scored the first four goals and never looked back to give Findlay their first loss within conference play this season.

Senior Sarah Lankton and junior Kyra Bradley each scored three goals apiece in the game while senior Taylor Trice added two goals and a pair of assists. Lankton also secured seven draws and recorded two ground balls.

Senior Mackenzie Barnwell scored the Oilers other goal while sophomore Brooke Eicher took the loss in goal after allowing 20 goals. She also made eight saves in the contest.

The Oilers return to action again on April 3 when they travel to Allendale, Mich. to take on Grand Valley State University at 1 p.m.
