Oilers Come Up Short at Grand Valley St.

The University of Findlay women's lacrosse team fell 19-9 to Grand Valley State University on April 3 in Allendale, Mich. The loss gives the Oilers a 6-4 record on the season with a 3-2 mark in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play.

The Oilers trailed by a score of 3-2 with under 19 minutes to play in the first half, but the Lakers closed the opening period on an 11-3 run to take a 14-5 lead at the break. The Oilers played nearly even with the Lakers in the second half, but the deficit was too much for Findlay to overcome.

The Lakers held a 42-21 advantage in shots and the Oilers had 22 turnovers compared to only ten by Grand Valley State. The Lakers also held a 26-16 edge in ground balls and converted 19-of-21 clear attempts in the game.

Sophomore Brooke Eicher took the loss after allowing 17 goals in 41:50. She also made six saves. Fellow sophomore Rachel Heath added three saves and allowed two goals in the game as well.

Junior Kyra Bradley had four goals to lead Findlay while senior Sarah Lankton had three goals, eight draws and an assist.

The Oilers will be back at it again on April 8 when they hit the road to face the University of Indianapolis at 4 p.m.
